Under general direction, the Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and dispatching fuel delivery drivers to ensure timely, accurate, and safe deliveries to customer locations. This role involves scheduling drivers, assigning routes, and maintaining effective communication with drivers throughout their shifts to address issues, adjust routes, and ensure efficiency.
The Dispatcher monitors station fuel levels and proactively plans deliveries to prevent shortages, while also responding to real-time changes such as traffic conditions, equipment issues, or customer needs. This position requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple priorities and maintain smooth daily operations.
In addition to dispatching duties, the role includes administrative responsibilities such as entering and tracking fuel orders, maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (including hours of service and certifications), and coordinating with maintenance for vehicle repairs. The Dispatcher also serves as a key point of contact for drivers and customers, addressing questions and resolving issues as they arise.
Qualifications Summary:
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least one year of related experience, with a strong foundation in customer service and knowledge of local roadways. This role requires effective communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak clearly, as well as basic mathematical and reasoning abilities to interpret data and follow instructions.
Candidates should demonstrate strong active listening, coordination, and monitoring skills, with the ability to assess situations and respond appropriately. The position requires someone who is highly organized, adaptable, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced, high-pressure, team-oriented environment.
Technical & Core Competencies:
Intermediate computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and basic database use
Strong reading comprehension and attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with team members and customers
